Mildred Butler

Mildred Butler, 80, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, March 17, 2015.  Born March 4, 1935 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Butler and Donie Chapman Butler.  She was a devoted member of Carswell Memorial Baptist Church, and a faithful member of the choir.  Mildred had been employed at Burke Yarns for 21 years.  She enjoyed baking and gardening.

She is survived by a sister, Edna Butler Carswell, sisters-in-law, Isabell Butler and Margaret Butler, and a brother-in-law, Joe Smith, all of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by siblings, Jessie Cook, Betty Braswell, Margaret Smith, Fred Butler, and Ted Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at Carswell Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Isaac Propst and Mr. Mike Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Carswell Memorial Baptist Church, 3386 Carswell Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
