Mildred Carol Drummond

Mildred Carol Drummond, 88, formerly of Eldred St., Valdese, died Friday, August 21, 2009, at Morganton Long Term Care. Mildred was born May 18, 1921 in Greenville County, SC to the late James Franklin Drummond and Margaret Caroline Corn Drummond. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Franklin Pons; brothers, Julius Henry Drummond, Lewis Alvin Drummond; and sisters, Alma Leona Drummond, Myrtle Laney Drummond Deal and Annie Lou Drummond Benton.Mildred is survived by her nieces, Patricia Drummond Thompson of Hickory, Ann Drummond Shook of Hildebran and JoAnn Schreider of St. Angelo, TX: a nephew Jimmy Deal of Alabama; a granddaughter, Lisa Pons of Wilmington, NC, and 2 great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Valdese, NC, with the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
