Mildred Carswell Poteat, 87, of Drexel, NC died Thursday, July 23, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on June 18, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Robert Carswell and Pansy Benfield Carswell. Mildred was a member of Mount Home Baptist Church.
Mildred is survived by her son, Jerry Poteat and his wife, Linda, of Drexel, NC; grandchildren, Robert Poteat and his wife, Casey, and Jennifer Poteat, all of Drexel; and a great-grandson, Corbin Poteat.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by a son, Eric Michael Poteat; and three brothers, Robert, Dewey, and Melvin Carswell.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The memorial service will follow in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating.
