Mildred Deal LeFevers

Mildred Deal LeFevers, 86, of Drexel Rd. in Morganton died Monday, January 19, 2009 at Valdese General Hospital following a brief illness. She was born July 5, 1922 in Burke County, and was a daughter of the late Melvin Deal and Pearl Powell Deal. Mildred was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She really enjoyed watching ACC basketball and all of the North Carolina teams. Mildred loved gardening, raising flowers, sewing, and going to the mountains with her family.She is survived by sons, William Eugene LeFevers and wife, Anna Lou, and Carter LeFevers and wife, Jann, daughters, Rachel Kelly and husband, Dobie, and Wanda Hembree and husband, Steve, all of Morganton; a sister, Mary Agnes Fox of Cary, NC; grandchildren, Dawn Carter, Shannon LeFevers, Kacey Hensley, Dana Harrill, Rafe Hembree, Leith Hembree, Kara Punch, Aaron Huffman, and Phillip Fender; and 21 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Newland LeFevers; brothers, James Carroll Deal and Glenn Deal; a sister, Jewel; and a granddaughter, Sherry Barrier.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
