Mitchell “Garrett” Prewitt

Mitchell “Garrett” Prewitt, 35, of Morganton passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 26, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on July 13, 1985, he was the son of Linda Kay Smith and the late Mitchell Wayne Prewitt.  Garrett was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  He enjoyed writing, making music, and collecting.

Garrett is survived by his son, Mitchell Camron Prewitt; mother, Linda Kay Smith; grandparents, Wanda Saulmon, Woody Saulmaon, Phyllis Banner, and Raymond Banner; uncles, Michael Scott Prewitt, Lemmie Dean Smith (Sharon), and Sandy Allen Smith; aunt, Ava Smith Yamouti; and nephew, Robert Dean Smith.

In addition to his father, Garrett was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Lemmie Phifer Smith; paternal grandfather, Sherley Prewitt; and uncle, Audie Luke Smith.

A celebration of Garrett's life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Picnic Area (6325 Watershed Road, Morganton, NC).  In the event of rain, the service will be held in the fellowship hall of the church.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
