Mrs. Johnsie Keller Puckett

Mrs. Johnsie Keller Puckett, 87, one of the greatest generation, of Air Park Dr. Morganton passed away at her home on Thursday, October 23, 2008 following a period of declining health. She was born July 3, 1921 in Caldwell County, NC, and was a daughter of the late Joseph Nelson Keller and Carrie Marie Poarch Keller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ben Puckett; a brother, Winford Keller; and a sister, Winnie Meeks. Johnsie was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church. She was a 1940 graduate of Lenoir High School, and a 1943 graduate of the Grace Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Puckett retired from Broughton Hospital after 34 years of service. Johnsie will be greatly missed by her beloved granddaughters and her feline companion, "Blackie".She is survived by daughters, Nancy C. Puckett and Cheryl Puckett Huffman, and husband, Gary, all of Morganton; granddaughters, Stephanie Kinsland and husband, Seth, of Franklin, NC, and Jennifer Huffman of Morganton.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. David Mills and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at Mrs. Puckett’s residence.
