Mrs. Myrtle Liche Smith Honeycutt, 92, formerly of Roan Mountain Tennessee, died Sunday September 24, 2006 at the Shaire Center in Lenoir, NC. She was born January 20, 1914 in Roan Mountain to the late Nicholas and Oma Tipton Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Zeb Honeycutt of Roan Mountain and two sons Shelbourne Honeycutt and Donald Honeycutt of Morganton, NC. Mrs. Honeycutt graduated from Lee’s McRae College and East Tennessee State University. She was a retired school teacher and an avid quilter. She was a faithful member of the Lower Heaton Creek Holiness Church in Roan Mountain where she loved to play the piano.
She is survived by sisters Emma Gouge of Kingsport TN.; Evelyn Buchanan of Johnson City TN.; Daughters-in-laws Leslie Anne Honeycutt and Brenda Honeycutt both of Morganton NC; Granddaughters Kay Honeycutt of Concord NC, Shawnah Lunsford of Old Fort NC, Sheila Jones of Morganton NC, Nikki Costello of Arden NC, Carol Holden of Morganton NC; great grandchildren Jacob Holden of Morganton NC, Andrew Costello of Arden NC and Adam Lunsford of Old Fort NC.
The Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the Lower Heaton Creek Holiness Church.
A Graveside Service will follow at 3:30 PM Tuesday at the Happy Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Elizabethton TN.
Sossoman Funeral Home of Morganton is assisting the family with arrangements.
