Muriel Juanita McKinney King

Muriel Juanita McKinney King, 76, of Ora Rd., Morganton, NC died Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. She was born September 2, 1931 in Avery County, NC and was a daughter of the late Robert Lee McKinney and Lillie Hughes McKinney. Muriel was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church. She loved quilting and had made a quilt for all the children in her family.Muriel is survived by her husband, George Willard King of the home; daughters, DeNea Huffman and her husband, Rex, of Connelly Springs, NC and Denise Huffman and her husband, Keith, of Hampton, GA; grandchildren, Marcus Whisnant, Steve Huffman, and Ryan Huffman; great grandchildren, Cole, Kyleigh, and Haylee; a sister, Zella Greene of Marion, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Clayton and Lee McKinney and by sisters, Molly Long, Velma Carpenter, and Alveda Pitman.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Albert Norville officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 until 11 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to personal charity of choice.
