Myrtle Puett Hood, 93, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, May 16, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on February 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Vaughn Puett and Wavie Arney Puett. Myrtle retired in 1976 after working at Southern Bell Telephone Company for 36 years. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Betsy Kay Hood of Morganton; siblings, Edward Puett of Morganton, Betty Randal of Weaverville, NC, Charlotte Rector and her husband, Bert, of Lenoir, NC, and Harold Puett of Morganton; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her husband, William Bill Hood; a brother, William E. Puett; and a sister, Margaret Baker.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating. The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the service.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
