Nan Benfield Price

Nan Benfield Price, 89, formerly of the Oak Hill Community, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Grace Heights. Born on September 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. Benfield, Jr. and Florence Fox Benfield. Mrs. Price retired from the Burke County Schools Food Service and was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carolyn P. Clarke and her fiancée, Ernest Hughes, Jr.; grandson, Gregory A. Gettys, all of Morganton; sister, Ione Morrison of Morganton and Mary Mull of Drexel; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garvis G. Price, brothers, Charles M. Benfield, Jr., Robert L. Benfield, and Marcus H. Benfield; and sisters, Nell B. Stroupe, Nan’s twin, and Lena B. Calhoun.The family wishes to express their appreciation to the entire staffs of Grace Heights and Burke Hospice.Graveside services will be held at 11:15 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Tom W. Brooks officiating.
