Nancy Crooks Newton

Nancy Crooks Newton, 92 of Morganton, NC passed away, Friday, June 21, 2024. Born on December 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John C. Crooks and Mary Margaret Browning Crooks. Nancy worked in healthcare as a registered nurse. She enjoyed taking care of others. Nancy loved animals including birds and dogs, reading, and watching movies. She was a devoted mother and a wonderful cook.

Nancy is survived by her sons, David Brian Newton, Jerome “Jerry” Douglas Newton; brothers, James Crooks, Carl Crooks; sister, Anna Laura Jaynes (Carroll); many nieces, nephews, and extended family; her K-9 companion, Aryton, her Beagle.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, D Z Newton; sisters, Naomi Crooks Johnson, Louise Stamey, Pauline C. Yancey, Mary Martha Crooks Cooper; brother, Earl Monroe Crooks.

A funeral service will be held at 4pm, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home with Chaplin Tom Nesbit officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
