Nancy Elizabeth Harmon, 98, of Morganton, went to her Heavenly home, Saturday, November 16, 2019. Born March 10, 1921 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Maude McSwain. Nancy was a member of Son Light Baptist Church. She retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Company and had worked at Broughton Hospital and Western Carolina Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Slim) E. Harmon, sisters, Helen Dellinger (Dub), and Ada Wright (Elwin); brothers, J. L. McSwain (Lib), Jim McSwain (Thelma), Bill McSwain (Vernie), and Kess McSwain (Mozelle). Nancy loved her Lord and Savior and was a sweet, loving and always happy person who was known for serving and loving others by preparing meals and inviting family and friends to her home for fellowship.
Nancy is survived by her son, Jimmy E. Harmon (LouEllen), Jerry D. Harmon (Rachel), Ann E. Hoyle (Robert), Rev. Charles (Bud) S. Harmon (Pat), Betty L. Curtis (Shawn); seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2:00p.m., in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Doug Woody officiating. Burial will follow at Son Light Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
