Nancy Hedderly Sholar

Nancy Hedderly Sholar, 90, of Bermuda Village, Advance, NC went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. She was born in Halifax County, VA on February 27, 1924 to the late Benjamin Edgar Hedderly, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Chisholm Hedderly. Nancy was an elementary school teacher who retired from Ravenscroft in Raleigh, NC. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Nancy was very active in her church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “Baba”, and great-grandmother and was loved by all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her children, Toni Souza Anderson of Morganton and Craig Souza of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Dana Anderson Thomas of Morganton, Jennifer Souza Shimer and her husband, Johnathan, of Raleigh, Paige Anderson of Morganton, and Kristen Hedderly Souza of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Maxwell Thomas of Morganton and Jackson and Cole Shimer of Raleigh; and her mother-in-law, Armida Sholar of Greensboro, NC.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wiley Sholar, Jr.; a son-in-law, Ken Anderson; a grandson, Brett Anderson; and a brother, Benjamin Edgar Hedderly, Jr.
The graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2014 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Morganton, NC. A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Bermuda Village Chapel in Advance. The family will receive friends following the service.
