Nancy Holtsclaw Greene

Nancy Holtsclaw Greene, 71, of Morganton, NC, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017.  Nancy was born to the late William Holtsclaw and Lillian Gertrude Pritchard Holtsclaw on February 11, 1945 in Burke County, but grew up in the Avery County.  She was a member of Arneys Fairview United Methodist Church.  Nancy loved her family and her church.  She was better known as the “potato salad queen” or “Granny”.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Fred Greene and children, Larry Greene and wife, Renee “Pixie” of Morganton, Kathy Greene and Bob Wyatt of Drexel, Gary Greene and Gayle of Salem, and Susan Creswell and fiancé, Danny Lackey of Morganton.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, B.J., Linda and husband, Zach, Paul and wife, Brittany, Dylan, Zach, and Jacob; four great-grandchildren; brother, Alan Holtsclaw and wife, Beth of Denver, NC; many nephews and nieces; and sister-in-law, Linda Pittman of Asheville.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by brothers, Warren Holtsclaw and Royce Holtsclaw; and sister, Norma Jean Stewart.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday at Arneys Fairview United Methodist Church on 3312 Piedmont Road with Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating.  The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
