Nancy Jane Pruett Tallent

Nancy Jane Pruett Tallent, 79, formerly of J.R.Tallent Road in Morganton died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Grace Heights Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Tallent was born June 8, 1929 in Burke County to the late George Washington Pruett and Sarah Jane Canipe Pruett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Tallent; a son, David S. Tallent; sisters, Vadie Hudson, Minnie Pruett, Bessie Tallent, and Flavie Pruett; and brothers, Tom Pruett, Dave Pruett, Javan Pruett, and William "Buddy" Pruett.Mrs. Tallent was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church and had retired from Broughton Hospital in 1981

She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Roper and husband, Ricky of Morganton; a sister, Mary Whitner of Hickory; a grandson, Steve Roper and wife, Jessica; great grandson, Steven Roper; special young men close to her heart, Steve, Chad, and Sam; and special nieces and nephews.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverend Clyde Buckner and Mr. Cecil Tallent officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Darlene Roper on J.R. Tallent Road.
