Nancy Jo Hawkins

Nancy Jo Hawkins, 77, of Morganton, NC went to her Heavenly home on Monday, March 17, 2014. Born in Burke County, NC on February 9, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Joe Rhoades and Rachel Mills Rhoades. Nancy attended Mtn. View #2 Baptist Church. Nancy retired from Valdese Manufacturing and was a former employee of Burke Yarns. She loved her family and grandchildren.Nancy is survived by her son, Rickie Hawkins and his wife, Susan, of Morganton; daughters, Sandra Presnell and her companion, Greg Mayer, and Rhonda Coleman and her husband, Larry, both of Morganton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Rhodes; and numerous nephews and nieces.In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Hawkins; a son, Ben Ervin Hawkins; sisters, Mae Davis and Millie Ketcham; and a nephew, Eddie Powell.The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, March 20, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul White officiating. Burial will follow in Faith Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
