Visitation
Nancy Louise Penley Causby, 77, of Glen Alpine went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 after an extended illness. Born in Burke County, NC on March 7, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Penley and Martha Self Penley.
Nancy was a member of First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine. She spent many hours giving of her time to her church, the American Cancer Society, and the Burke County Democratic Party. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dearly loved her family. Nancy enjoyed music, sewing, and taking care of her family. Her special love was reserved for children, not only her own but her church kids as well.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Dennis A. Causby and wife, Betty, and Rodney Causby; a daughter, Anna C. Hurdle and husband, Dan, of Charlotte, NC; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Telles Penley and wife, Lourdes, Richard Penley and wife, Brenda, and Kenneth Penley and wife, Kathy; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine Ashford Causby.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine with Pastor Michael Brown and Pastor John Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
