Nancy Virginia Moses

Nancy Virginia Moses, 89, of Drexel, NC died Monday, July 11, 2011 at Autumn Care. Born in Caldwell County, NC on July 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Wilborn Cary Coffey and Jenny Woods Coffey. Virginia was a member and long-time Sunday School teacher at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and loved growing irises. Virginia was a wonderful baker and shared her creations with her family and friends.A devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Virginia is survived by her sons, Robert Cary Moses and wife, Wanda, and Michael Lee Moses and wife, Susan, all of Morganton; a daughter, Nancy Lynn Straka and husband, William, of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Savannah Mei Li Straka and Roland Cary Moses; a great-granddaughter, Meredith Moses; a brother, Edgar Coffey of Lenoir, NC; and sisters, Mary Greene and husband, Tommy, of Connelly Springs and Shirley Kincaid of Lenoir, NC.In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Morrison Moses; a brother, W. C. Coffey, Jr.; and sisters, Coline Coffey, Betty Coffey, and Lucy Hartley.The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Dr. Dewey Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
