Nancy Watts Myrick

Nancy Watts Myrick, 89, of Drexel died Monday, June 21, 2010 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC. She was born February 16, 1921 in Burke County, and was a daughter of the late D. A. Watts and Mary Carswell Watts. Nancy attended Celebration Family Worship Center, but was a charter member of Amherst Baptist Church. While a faithful member of Amherst Baptist, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was also a G. A. teacher. Nancy was a wonderful Christian wife, mother, and grandmother.She is survived by a son, Jim W. Myrick, Jr. of Asheville, NC; daughters, Rebecca Myrick Poteat and husband, Robert of Drexel, and Shirley Hise of Morganton; grandson, T. Hamilton Ward of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Donald Watts of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James W. "Jim" Myrick, Sr.; and a number of brothers and sisters.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky McLendon and Rev. Michael Riley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
