Naomi Carson Duckworth

Naomi Carson Duckworth, 81, of Morganton, NC died on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. Born in Burke County, NC on March 31, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Richard Carson and Mattie Hawkins Carson. Naomi was an active member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church and had retired from Broughton Hospital. She was active in the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She also volunteered at Grace Hospital.Naomi is survived by her sons, Mike Duckworth of Morganton, Wayne Duckworth of Oak Ridge, NC, and Ronnie Teague of Oak Ridge, TN, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie P. Duckworth.The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Heather Kilbourne officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 201 Shady Rest Road, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
