Naomi W. Freeman, 76, of the Oak Hill Community passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018. Born in Burke County, NC on June 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Jimmie Lee Whisenant and Sallie Louise Whisenant. Naomi was a life-long member of Zion Baptist Church and was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class. She retired from Premier Hosiery and loved making fried apple pies and pound cakes. Their home was always open to all that wanted to visit; you never left hungry. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of her eyes.
Naomi is survived by her husband of 58 years, Granville Freeman of the home; daughters, Lorie Freeman Auton of Taylorsville and Kim Freeman Oliver of Morganton; grandchildren, Erica Auton Pezzulo (Joe), Tyler Auton, Michala Auton, and Matthew Price (Crystal); great-grandchildren, Ryan and Harper Price; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Scott Loven; brother, Calvin Whisenant; and sisters, Irene Powell, Margaret Benfield, and Ethel Kincaid.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Revs. Keith Rose and Ken Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
