Nathaniel Artist Stamey

Nathaniel Artist Stamey, 84, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Born in Burke County, NC on October 1, 1938, he was the son of the late Clarence A. Stamey and Laura Minnie Barnes Stamey.

Nathaniel was a member of Praise Assembly of God. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the NC National Guard. Mr. Stamey boxed while in the Air Force and was an avid tree arborist. He was a generous man who loved to travel, hunt, and raise hunting dogs.

Nathaniel is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hicks Stamey; daughter, Michelle Hudgens; children, Lane Day, Angela Day, Pamela Day Hinson, and Lisa Day Hartley; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert and Claude Stamey; sister, Helen Danner; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Nathaniel was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Burl Stamey; sister, Rachel Danner; and sister-in-law, Becky Stamey.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Glen Alpine First Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Kevin Crawford officiating.
