Committal
Ned Dean Sigmon, 86, of Morganton, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Sigmon was born July 20, 1933 in Burke County to the late John S. Sigmon and Ethel Deal Sigmon.
Mr. Sigmon retired from Retail Credit Company and Western Steer Steak Houses. He was a lifelong member of the Drexel First Church of God, and a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Velma Henley, John S. Sigmon Jr., Alfred Sigmon, Doris Moore, Ruth Hackney, Lewis Sigmon, Earl Sigmon, and Nadine Erickson.
Mr. Sigmon is survived by his wife, Sue Smith Sigmon of the home; children, Roger Sigmon (Judy), Phyllis Bailey (Rodger), and Daryl Sigmon; and grandchildren, Ryan Sigmon, Evan Sigmon (Miranda), Molly Sigmon, Dawson Sigmon, Zeke Sigmon, Haygen Sigmon, Emily Bailey and fiancé, Christopher Grice, Jennifer Winebarger (Jamie), Travis Bailey (Greta), Melissa Phillips (Ivan), and Brandon Leger. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Benton Sigmon, Maddox Sigmon, Mackenzie Winebarger, Ella Bailey, Andrew Smith, Emma Nowlin, Joseph Nowlin, and Dalton Leger; siblings, Martha Scalf (Michael) and Ralph Sigmon ;and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Drexel First Church of God. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Jake Eldridge officiating.
