Nehemiah "Dink" Davis

Nehemiah “Dink” Davis, 89, of Morganton, NC died on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Born in Buncombe County, NC on August 16, 1925, he was a son of the late Jesse Eli Davis and Alzie Crowe Davis.
Mr. Davis was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Civil Conservation Corps, and retired from Breeden/Case Farms Poultry.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Alma Hollan Davis; son, W. J. “Bill” Davis and Hazel of Morganton; daughter, Marjorie “Sister” Davis Wilson and Winfred of Valdese; brother, Charles Davis and Shirley of Morganton; sister, Edna Roberts and Pete of Marshall, NC; special sister-in-law, Marjorie Davis of Greeneville, TN; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Dink was preceded in death by sisters, Gertie Lee Bishop, Josie Brown, Barbara Davis, Wilma Fowler, Saphrona Mathis, Zelda Mae Mathis; brothers, John Davis, Fred Davis, Lattie Davis, Warren Davis, Winfred Davis, and Woodard Davis.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 17, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Darvy Hensley and Rev. Eddy Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
