Nelle Curlee Anderson of Tallahassee, Florida formerly of Morganton, went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2015. She was the daughter of Maude Clarke Curlee and Claude Talmadge Curlee. She was born in Morganton on November 1, 1925. She graduated from Morganton High School in 1943. She excelled in typing and shorthand, which served her well in her working years. Nelle was employed with the City of Morganton for 25 years and during that time she worked as the secretary for five different City Managers. In Tallahassee she worked for the State Division of Retirement and retired from that job. She was a member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Kenneth L. Anderson, as well as five brothers and two sisters, Ben Curlee, Roy Curlee, Hal Curlee, Joe Curlee, Jack Curlee, Virginia Marr and Sarah Herman. She is survived by her sister, Sue Curlee of Tallahassee along with numerous nieces and nephews across the country.
Services were held at Bevis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 25 at 11:00 AM. A private burial will be in Morganton. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that any gifts be made to the Thomasville Road Baptist Church in Nelle’s name.
