Norma Josephine Small

Norma Josephine Small passed away on Friday, July 15. She was in Mission Hospital in Asheville after a fall. She was born in Morganton, N.C, on October 9, 1933. Married to Teddy W. Small in 1950, she gave birth to two sons, Randy and Eddy. Mrs. Small was highly respected as a Medical Assistant in Dr. Millard Riggs office and later at Grace Hospital in Morganton. She ended her career there in the I.C.U. unit. She left to lovingly care for her husband who died from pancreatic cancer. Then her son, Randy, contracted the same disease, and was his caretaker for years. She is survived by a sister, Muriel Morgan, of Ohio. She was preceded in death by Emily Bass, Myra Smith, Isaac Poteet, and Oliver Poteet. Her son, Eddy, lives in Efland, N.C. near Chapel Hill. She is dearly missed, and Glory Bound.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:00pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at noon in the Colonial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. David Orders officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at a later date.
