Norma Lee Shuford

Norma Lee Shuford, 97, of Drexel passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Grace Hospital following a long period of declining health.

Norma was born on March 10, 1920 in Newton, NC.  She was the daughter of the late Gales Shuford and Edna Settlemyre Shuford.

Being an only child, Norma enjoyed time spent with her extended family.  They enjoyed many Saturday shopping trips, card games, and singing hymns.

Norma was a faithful member of Drexel First Baptist Church, where she served as a secretary and Sunday school teacher in her earlier years.  She graduated from Drexel High School and continued her education at the University of Greensboro, then called Women’s College.  For many years Norma worked as a secretary at Drexel Heritage and continued at Henredon Furniture until retirement.

She was preceded in death by both parents and most of her family.  Her surviving relatives are second and third cousins and two close friends Elizabeth Berry Woody and Margaret L. Church.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Drexel Memorial Park.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Drexel First Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Duncan officiating.  The family will friends will immediately follow the service.
