Norma "Sug" Braswell Rector, 76, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at her home. Born March 28, 1935 in Burke County, She was the daughter of the late Julius Robert Braswell and Zulia Branch Braswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack, Howard, Robert "Bobby", and Clyde Braswell; sisters, Mrs. Karey (Levada) Williams, and Mrs. Ben (Ruby) Parks.Sug was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church and the Morganton Women’s Club. She worked in the office of Dr. DeVere and Dr. Fleming for 27 years.A wonderful and loving wife, aunt, and friend to everyone, Sug is survived by her husband of 58 years, Arlen "Joe" Rector of the home; a sister, Mrs. Truett (Betty) Seagle; and a number of nephews and nieces.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Reverends Douglas St. John and Bob Deviney officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence of Joe and Sug Rector.
