Norman Odell Garrison, 78, of the Salem Community passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Born in Burke County, NC on November 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Lewis Odell “Jack” Garrison and Leila Pearl Lefevers Garrison. Norman was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and a member of the men’s bible class. He was also a member of the Morganton Elks’ Lodge where he was honored with a lifetime membership, and he was a past member of the Board of Directors for the Salem Fire Department. Along with his family, he owned and operated Garrison Store. He loved old cars, antiques, and working with people.
Mr. Garrison is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Holland Garrison of the home; sons, Christopher O. Garrison and his wife, Shelia, and Keith P. Garrison and his wife, Kim, all of Morganton; his beloved grandchildren, Joshua and Morgan Garrison; and a sister, Beverly Williams and her husband, Landres, of Morganton.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in the fellowship hall of Salem United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Abby Kocher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
