Olen Philbert Bryant, 80, of Morganton, NC passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Burke County on January 4, 1941, he was the son of the late Garland and Viola Bryant. Olen was a member of Drexel First Church of God. He served in the Army for 2 years. Olen retired from North Carolina School for the Deaf as a dorm teacher. Olen will be remembered by his family as being a loving husband, father, pawpaw and great pawpaw.
In addition to his parents, Olen is preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Bryant and Nelson Bryant; sisters-in-law, Doris Bryant and Ruby Bryant.
Olen is survived by his wife, Linda Epley Bryant of the home; daughters, Kimberly Kling and husband, Gary, Tammy McRary and husband, John; grandchild, Jonathan McRary; step-granddaughters, Traci Gregory and Paula Sheridan; step great-granddaughter, Keeley Sheridan; brother, Lonnie Bryant; sister, Nathalee Hart and husband, Harry; sister-in-law, Kay Bryant; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1pm, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Drexel First Church of God. A funeral service will be at 1pm in the church with the Rev. Jake Eldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice.
