Ora Lee Phillips O’Kelly, 86, of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully early Saturday, March 5, 2016.
Born in Burke County, NC on March 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Marcus Phillips and Florence Webb Phillips. Ora Lee was a member of First Baptist Church and was a charter member of Asheville Street Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Morganton High School, a former, 25 year employee of Henredon Furniture, and a retired employee of Broughton Hospital with 40 years of service.
Mrs. O’Kelly is survived by her husband of 35 years, Johnny L. O’Kelly of the home; a sister, Kathy Powell Mace and her husband, Doug; and a host of cousins and friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Ora Lee was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Phillips; and an infant brother, William Vernon Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the parlor of First Baptist Church. The funeral will be held in the church sanctuary at 1 p.m. with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
