Pansy Townsend Franklin Smith

Pansy Townsend Franklin Smith, 91, of Morganton, NC, died Sunday, February 17, 2008. Born in Carter Co., TN on April 23, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James William Townsend and Victoria Johnson Townsend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William "Boe" Franklin; second husband, Ott Smith; a son, Joe Franklin; and a daughter, Hazel Redina South. Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith.She is survived by three sons, Bill Franklin of Conowingo, MD, Robert Franklin of Conowingo, and James Franklin of Granite Falls, NC; daughter, Libby Smith of Morganton and Dottie Taylor of Lenoir, NC; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.The memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. before the service.
