Pat Powell Owenby

Pat Powell Owenby, 70, of Drexel, NC died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 after an extended illness. Born in Burke County, NC on January 30, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Alexander "Alex" Powell and Annie Lee Frye Powell. Pat was a long time, active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a teaching assistant at East Concord and Oak Hill Elementary Schools.Pat is survived by her sons, Mark Owenby and partner, Robert Buchanan, of Durham, NC and Kevin Owenby and wife, Allison, of Atlanta, GA; her former husband, Roy Owenby of Franklin, NC; grandchildren, Jeremy, Nathaniel, Tyson, Graham, and Collin Owenby; a sister, Evelyn Page and husband, Gene, of Drexel; a niece, Lisa Buff; a nephew, Kurt Page; an aunt, Mary Pearson; a very close friend, Martha Reavis; and many other friends too numerous to mention.A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
