Patricia Dale Baily, 72, of Morganton, died peacefully on June 17th at Carolina’s Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Morganton on Jan. 16, 1942, to the late Horace and Annie Dale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Dale.
She is survived by her husband, George E. Baily, Jr.; one son, the Reverend Dr. Chris Leonard and wife, Debbie, of Greenwood, SC; two grandchildren, Nicholas and William Leonard, also of Greenwood, SC; Three step-children; Natasha Homburg; Aletha Carrie Baily and George E. Baily, III, all of Georgia; and several step-grandchildren.
An industrial engineer, she was employed by Drexel Heritage for twenty-five years. Upon retirement, she consulted with Lee Industries and Shenandoah Furniture. During these years she served on numerous industry boards.
A devoted disciple of her Lord, she was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a ruling elder, an officer of the Presbyterian Women. She was also active in the Presbyterian Women’s Circle 2 and the Clower Sunday School class. She also took part in the prison ministries of the church and Meals for Wheels.
A beloved wife, devoted mother, and doting "Nana" to her grandchildren, she lived this life with great energy and grace. A friend to many, she chose to spend much of her life serving others in small, sometimes unnoticed, but significant ways.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 22nd at 2pm, with the Reverend Mr. Michael Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kiwanis Foundation "Baily Scholarship Fund" through the Morganton Kiwanis Club, P. O. Box 673, Morganton, NC 28680.
