Patricia "Pat" Chapman

Patricia “Pat” Chapman, 86, of Morganton, NC passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 after a short illness. Born in Essex County, England on August 14, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George F. Prior and Lena Victoria Forsdyke Prior. Pat attended North Morganton United Methodist Church. She was a war-bride who married Lee Chapman in England in 1944 and moved to Burke County in 1945. She worked as an accountant for Morganton Full Fashion Hosiery and Shadowline.

Pat is survived by her brothers, Gerald Prior and Ralph Prior and his wife, May, both of England; twenty-four nieces and nephews that live in England; nieces, Pearl Piercy, Nell Saunders, Martha Mull, and Mary Waters, all of Morganton; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Lee J. Chapman; a son, Robert Lee Chapman; and two brothers, Geoffrey Prior and Ian Prior.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Donald Lovelace, the Rev. Burt Williams, and the Rev. Chris Dale officiating. Burial will follow in Missionary Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
