Patsy Leonard Hill

Patsy Leonard Hill, 75, of Glen Alpine, NC died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at her residence. Born in Burke County, NC on January 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Bailey Leonard and Helen Brachard Leonard. Patsy was Methodist by faith but attended the Deaf Mission at First Baptist Church. She loved directing weddings, was involved with the Mrs. Deaf America Pageant, and enjoyed camping with her family. Patsy attended North Morganton United Methodist Church - Deaf Group until she no longer could.She held the positions of president, vice president, and treasurer in the National Fraternal Association for Deaf. She was a member of the North Carolina Association for the Deaf and belonged to the Table Rock AARP Chapter 5076 in Morganton. Patsy was also associated with the N.C. Service for the Blind and Deaf.Patsy is survived by her husband, Charles V. Hill of the home; a son, C. Jeffrey Hill of Asheville, NC; granddaughters, Carlee Jordan Hill and Carrigan Jolie Hill, both of Asheville; and numerous cousins and special friends.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Tom Lineberger officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
