Paul David Smith

Paul David Smith, 58, of Snipes Street, Morganton, NC, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. Born January 3, 1948 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Robert Clyde Smith and Velva Watts Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Hallyburton, and a grandchild, Kayla Elizabeth Smith. Paul was a member at Hartland Baptist Church and an avid farmer. He enjoyed riding horses and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Paul was well loved by his family, his church family, his many friends, and all who knew him. He had prepared in advance to spend eternity with his Lord.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Patricia Moody Smith of the home; two sons, Rev. Brian Smith and wife, Kathy, of Lenoir and Randy Smith of Morganton; two daughters, Paula Smith and husband Todd, of Valdese, NC, and Kimberly Hartley of Morganton; and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2006 at Hartland Baptist Church with Reverends Steve Parker and Brian Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the residence, 2909 Snipes Street, Morganton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hartland Baptist Church Building Fund, 3730 Hartland Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
