Paul Shatley, 62, of Salem passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 after an extended illness. He was born in Pennsylvania on February 29, 1952 and was the son of the late Richard Shatley and Hattie Lou Owens Shatley. Paul was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and retired from Wilbert Vault Company.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette Phillips Shatley; children, Paula Shatley Hall of Washington and Danny Phillips, Bonnie Hunt and husband, Leroy, and John Shatley and wife, Donitia all of Morganton; grandchildren, Whitney Hall, Sunshine Hunt, Joshua Hunt, Trinity Hunt, Caleb Hunt, Fatima Norman, Kameron Kiddy, Issabella Shatley, and Sabastian Shatley; two great grandchildren; sisters, Emma Lou and Jean; and brothers, Troy, Guy, Monte, and Kermit.
The memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2014 at First Apostolic Church with Bishops John Smiley and Alvin Baker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
