Pauline Elizabeth Guigou Whisnant

Pauline Elizabeth Guigou Whisnant, 92, of Morganton, NC left to celebrate a happy reunion in Heaven with her loved ones on Monday, November 10, 2014.  Born in Valdese, NC on February 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Louise Madeleine Guigou.  Pauline attended Valdese High School at the Old Rock School and left to marry the love of her life, Vernon J. Whisnant (now deceased).  Later, she received her G.E.D. from Western Piedmont Community College.

Pauline was guided through life by her abiding belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.  She was a faithful member of Mt. Home Baptist Church until she became ill.  She was a fine Christian lady who loved the Lord, her church family, and especially the ladies in her Sunday school class and W.M.U.

Pauline worked hard all her life.  She went to work during WWII at Drexel Furniture and retired from Shadowline with over thirty years of service.

Mrs. Whisnant is survived by her son, Stewart “Wayne” Whisnant and his wife, Paula, of Drexel, NC; grandsons, Todd Whisnant and his wife, Robin of Valdese, Sanford “Sandy” Whisnant and his wife, Melita, and Kevin Whisnant and his wife, Karin, all of Morganton; six great-grandchildren (her late-life blessings), Bronwyn, Wesley, Juliana, Alex, Erika, and Conlan; and Marcella Civa of Berlin, NJ, whom she helped raise and loved like a daughter.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Mt. Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.  At other times the family will be at the residence of the son on Powell Road in Drexel.
