Pauline J. Spake

Pauline J. Spake, 89, of Fayetteville, NC, formerly of Morganton, NC and Newport News, VA died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, following a brief illness. She was born in Burke County, NC on May 28, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Joyner and Carrie Lee Griffin Joyner. Mrs. Spake was a member of Stoney Point Baptist Church in Fayetteville.She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Washo and her husband, Bill, of Fayetteville; a brother, Gerald "Buddy" Cook of Newport News, VA; and sisters, Catherine Smith and Esther Morgan both of Newport News and Pearl Person of Augusta, GA.In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Leonard Spake; a sister, Rachel D. Spake; and a brother, Ray Cook.Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2010 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Dewey Thomas officiating.
