Pearl Stroupe Propst, 87, of Duckworth Circle, Morganton, NC died Monday, December 4, 2006 at Grace Hospital following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 11, 1919 in Burke County, and was a daughter of the late David Jackson Stroupe and Eliza Christine Mooney Stroupe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Hennessee Propst; brothers, Carl and Jim Stroupe; sisters, Mary Walker and Callie Schlachter. Pearl was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Jim Propst and wife, Mary, of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Ada Bingham and husband, Warren, of Morganton; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund, 1112 Hopewell Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. The family would like to thank Dr. David Abernathy and the staff at Grace Hospital, especially the ICU staff for their care and compassion. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
