Pearlie Mae Norman Copeland, of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at College Pines, after a lengthy illness. She was born January 31, 1924 to the late Tommy and Isabell Norman. Pearlie retired in 1989 from the North Carolina School for the Deaf. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and her Sunday school class. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling.Left behind to cherish her memory are a daughter, Barbara Denton; sons, Steve Copeland and wife, Mary Ann, Andy Copeland and wife, Marcia; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great great- grandchildren; sister, Rudell Burgin; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, Lib McFalls, Nell Morris, and Lena Ogle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, James Copeland; sisters, Lucy Dale and Gertie Duckworth; brothers, William, Frank, Charlie, James, and Mack Norman; and a son-in-law, Ray Denton.The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 also at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Burke Memorial Park.
