Peggy Bolick Brendle, 84, of Morganton went to be with her Lord and loving husband Sunday, February 8th, at her residence. Born July 9th, 1931, she was the daughter of Ernest Owen Bolick and Catherine Cook Bolick. Peggy was a lifelong member and servant of St. Matthews Methodist Church. She was passionate about family, church, feeding the ducks and birds, traveling, daily walks, and her beloved puppies, Mr. Precious and Raymond. She began a housekeeping career at Broughton Hospital in 1959. In 1963, Western Carolina Center opened and she was hired as Director of Housekeeping. Over the next 28 years, it was her personal mission to create an environment that fostered a high quality of life to all residents and employees. She highly valued all staff that served along with her. She is survived by her loving daughter Katherine Brendle Digh and son-in-law Randy of Drexel; brother Norman Bolick and wife Carolyn of Morganton; sister in law Jackie Brendle Pitts of Charlotte; granddaughter Kristan Digh Reeve and husband Michael of Greensboro; grandson Karey Brendle Digh and wife Stephanie; great-grandchildren Nolan Brendle and Asher Michael Reeve and Cohen Denver Digh; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Denver A. Brendle; brother Ned Bolick; sisters Verdia Bolick Goodnight and Christine Bolick Bush. Peggy’s life will be celebrated at St. Matthews Methodist Church at 3 pm Thursday, February 11th. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to St. Matthews Methodist Church, 201 Shady Rest Rd. Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
