Peggy Jeanette Perry Sisk, 86, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022.
Born in Burke County, NC on February 4, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Marler R. Perry and Mary Vivian Childers Perry. Peggy was a member of Mountain Grove United Methodist Church. She taught high school English in Davidson and Buncombe County Schools. Mrs. Sisk served as a preacher’s wife in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, books, gardening, and cooking.
She was generous in nature, providing meals and baked goods to neighbors, and she supported several charities for many years.
Peggy is survived by her beloved family, including her husband of 68 years, Rev. Charles Sisk; sons, John Sisk (Kendra), Phillip Sisk, and Mark Sisk (Yvonne); grandchildren, Peggy Ann Fisher (Corey), Shannon McMahan (Jonathon), Sonya Cox (Matthew), and Emmaline Sisk; great-grandchildren, Lanie McMahan, Layton McMahan, and Linley McMahan; and brother, Steve Perry.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Swink.
A celebration of life service for Peggy will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 1 pm with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral. There will be a receiving of friends from 12 to 1 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributionss may be made in Peggy's memory to charity, particularly St. Judes Children Hospital, her home church, or relief organization supported by the United Methodist Church, such as UMCOR.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
