Peggy JoEllen Bean, 85, of Morganton died Wednesday, August 1, 2018. Born in Burke County, NC on June 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Glen R. Clay and Beadie Stephens Clay. Peggy was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. Her joy in life was caring for children, both her own and others’.
Mrs. Bean is survived by her children, Charles Bean (Denise) of Tuckasegee, NC, Rev. David Bean of Morganton, and Debra Bean Crouch (David) of Denver, NC; grandchildren, Stephanie Sutton, Jessica Costanzo, Brandon Baker, Lance Bean, and Alicia Bean; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Merle Buff (Grier), Kate Baker (Glen), Jean Rudisill, and Patsy Hennessee (Ervin); brother-in-law, Bob Brackett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edward Ravon Bean; grandson, Curtis Baker; brother, Jack Clay; and sister, Dottie Brackett.
The family will receive friends from 11: 30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 at El Bethel Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the church with the Revs. David Bean, Ron Cooper, and Kenny Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
