Phil was a true friend, always giving of his time and wisdom. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. I worked with Phil for a few years at Duracell in Valdese in the late 80's. I was from Myrtle Beach and had no family in Valdese. Phil welcomed me into his heart as a brother in Christ and made me feel at home in the Morganton area. He adopted my parents when they came to visit and shared many of the beautiful mountains, rivers and lakes that were so special to him. Thank you brother, for all that you did, the friend that you were and the kindness you showed. I see you in heaven!!!

I remember when Phillip lived on Walker road when I was a young girl, he was a pleasant human being so kind, God bless his family and will be praying for them
