“Pretty Eyes” Ruth Campbell

“Pretty Eyes” Ruth Campbell, 95 of Morganton died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Magnolia Lane Nursing Home. Ruth was born in Buncombe County on July 5, 1919 to the late Square Edward Pursley and Ethel Ann Smith Pursley. She was a member of Nowling Chapel Free-Will Baptist Church.
“Pretty Eyes” Ruth is survived by children, Bruce and Betty Campbell, Bob and Patsy Campbell, Tom and Margaret Campbell, Ernest and Alice Campbell, Leon and Rene Campbell, Jane and Ed Lawing, and Brenda and Charles Arnett, all of Morganton; a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Campbell; a son, John Wayne Campbell; daughters, Mary Evelyn Poteat and Ethel Runion; grandchildren, Jada Benfield, Sharlee Arnett, and Wally Runion; and great-grandson, Andy Campbell.
Funeral services for “Pretty Eyes” Ruth Campbell will be Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Reverends Darvy Hensley and Ed Lawing officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 prior to the service.
