Rachel Louise Cook McNeely

Rachel Louise Cook McNeely, 65, of Watermill Rd., Morganton, NC died Tuesday, January 01, 2008, at Frye Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health. She was born in Burke County on August 3, 1942 and was a daughter of the late Paul Douglas Cook and Junie Branch Cook. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Alisha Burns; great-grandchild, Bridget Finley; and by brothers, Dean and Ronnie Cook. Mrs. McNeely was a member of Zion Road Baptist Church and was a former employee of Valdese General Hospital and Saft Industry in Valdese.Surviving are her daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Ronnie Gilbert, Janet and Greg Cook, Karen McNeely, and Ramona and Jamie Deaton, all of Morganton; a brother, Cecil Cook, of Hickory, sisters, Fonda Sigmann of Clarkston, MI and Sharon Dainoviec of Petoskey, MI; grandchildren, Michael Anthony, Crystal McNeely, Haili Cook, Lacie Deaton, and Lauren Burns; a great-grandchild, Kimberly Finley; her companion, Fred Canipe, of Hickory; and a special nephew, Tim Cook and his family of Hickory.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Mica Piercy officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
