Rachel Mull Lunday

Rachel Mull Lunday, 88, Matthews, NC, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on January 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William Russell Mull and Elsie Searcy Mull. Rachel was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail and was a faithful member of the Sunday school. She enjoyed dancing, going to the fitness center, playing Bridge, was an avid golfer, and artist. She dearly loved her family and took great joy in making her famous banana pudding for everyone.

Rachel is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Shirey; grandchildren, Tony Bridges (Katy), Clint Boland (Brittany), Jayme Bridges, Matthew Boland, and Jenna McQuage (Stephan); great-grandchildren, Jayda, Jase, Tristen, Tage, Lilli, Skylar, Cambree, Kylah, Titus, Paityn, Olivia, and Amelia; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Bridges.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her step-mother, Florence Mull; and sons, Alan Christopher Bridges and Tony Arthur Bridges.

The graveside will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2024 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Clint Boland officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thompson’s Children’s Home in Charlotte, NC.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
