Ralph "Jackson" Powell, Jr., 43, of Goodman Lake Rd., Morganton died Wednesday, July 7, 2010. He was born in Montgomery County, AL on August 27, 1966 and was a son of Col Ralph Jackson Powell, Sr. and Julie McLain Powell of Savannah, GA.Jackson was a longtime resident of Columbus and Savannah, GA and attended St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School for both elementary and high school. Professionally he worked at a horticulturalist at a golf course. Jackson attended St. James Catholic Church in Savannah.Surviving in addition to his parents are his daughter, Ashley K. Powell and his brother, Jerry T. Powell both of Savannah, extended family includes uncles, aunts and many cousins. Jack, Julie, Ashley and Jerry deeply appreciates the loving support they received from the Powell families in the Oak Hill community.A memorial service will be held for Ralph Jackson Powell, Jr. at 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2010 at St. Charles Borromero Catholic Church, Morganton, NC. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, 7215 Sallie Mood Dr., Savannah, GA 31406. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
